Stockton Photo Gallery: Rawhide Trample Ports

STOCKTON - Visalia Rawhide lead-off hitter David Nick connected for a homer on the game's second pitch and things only got worse for the Stockton Ports from there, as the Rawhide routed the Ports, 17-7. We have photos from the game inside...

The Stockton Ports have gotten off to a decent start to the 2011 season, but Sunday's contest versus the Visalia Rawhide was one they'd just as soon forget. Stockton had seven runs on 12 hits, but it wasn't nearly enough, as the Ports' pitching staff gave-up 17 runs in 17 hits.

The offensive onslaught began early for Visalia. Rawhide lead-off hitter David Nick hit a homer on the second pitch of the game from Stockton starter Fabian Williamson. Williamson struggled badly with his command. He walked three in the first, but was able to work out of the inning without further damage. He wasn't so lucky in the second. Williamson walked two more batters and they came around to score on Matt Davidson's grandslam.

Williamson gave way to Josh Lansford in the second having allowed five runs in 1.1 innings. Lansford would be the only Stockton pitcher of the six in the game who didn't allow a run. Unfortunately for Stockton, Lansford was only able to pitch 1.2 innings. He left not long after being hit in the pitching hand with a groundball.

Bo Schultz would have the poorest outing of the day for Stockton pitchers. The submariner allowed seven runs (six earned) on five hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch in a nightmarish fourth inning. Jose Guzman (three runs allowed in 2.2 innings), Connor Hoehn (one run allowed in one inning) and A.J. Huttenlocker (one run in two innings) would follow Schultz.

Stockton had plenty of offense on Sunday in the losing effort. Anthony Aliotti had a team-high three hits. Two of them were doubles and he drove-in two. He also walked. Michael Choice had a big game, as well. He hit a ground-rule double to right-center in the first and then connected on a three-run homer to left-center in the fourth. Choice also walked.

Conner Crumbliss picked up his second hit of the season and he walked three times. Crumbliss is batting only .067 this year, but he has a .318 OBP and 12 walks in nine games. Rashun Dixon, Kent Walton and Juan Nunez all had two-hit games.

For Visalia, Bobby Borchering had a huge day, connecting on a homer and a double and driving in three. Justin Hilt had three RBIs and Mark Reed drove-in two. All nine Rawhide hitters scored at least once.
