Harden And Loaiza Rehab With River Cats
Esteban Loaiza took over for Harden in the third inning in his first rehabilitation outing. Loaiza was touched for two runs on two hits and a walk in the first inning, but calmed down from there. He ended up working 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits. He walked one and struck out four. He induced four groundouts and five flyouts. Loiaza earned the win in the game.
John Birtwell worked one inning and did not allow a run to earn his second hold. He lowered his ERA to 0.79. Jason Karnuth came on with two-outs in the eighth and got out of that inning, but allowed three runs in the ninth. He held on to keep the tying run off the board, earning his 11th save.
Doug Clark was the offensive star for Sacramento. He reached base four times with three hits and a hit-by-pitch. Clark drove in two runs, scored one and threw out a runner from left-field. Scott McClain had two hits and he hit his seventh homerun of the season. He now has 31 RBI on the season.
Hiram Bocachica had two hits and Mike Rouse reached base four times with a hit and three walks. Bocachica also stole a base, his fourth of the year. Mark Kiger added his second homerun of the year, a solo shot in the fifth off of DJ Houlton.
Sacramento has taken two in a row against the first-place 51s and are now back to two games over .500 at 27-25.
