A's AFL Participants Announced

Connor Robertson is on the list

The required total of seven players from each major league organization that will comprise the annual Arizona Fall League rosters were announced on Monday, which included four A's pitching prospects and three position players.

At first glance, Double-A Midland dominates the A's contingent of representatives in this year's crop.

Representing the A's farm system this year will be pitchers Dallas Braden, Marcus McBeth, Mike Mitchell and Connor Robertson. Landon Powell (C), Kevin Melillo (2B) and Travis Buck (OF) will make up the organization's position players on this year's Phoenix Desert Dogs roster. The Dogs were AFL champions a year ago.

Of the A's prospects tapped for this year's squad, the 22-year-old Buck led the Oakland farm system with a .320 average in 84 games between Double-A Midland and Class High-A Stockton (minimum 80 games) through Sunday play.

McBeth, meanwhile, leads the A's farm system with 27 saves between Midland and Stockton, and will turn 26 on Wednesday.

Melillo, the organization's top second base prospect and no stranger to the Oakland Clubhouse nation, will join the league after having one of his finer years with the glove. Through 122 games at second, the former fifth-round pick and 24-year-old had a .991 fielding percentage and just five errors.

In addition, the Dogs will be managed by Triple-A Sacramento skipper Tony DeFrancesco.
