Oakland A's minor league spring training camp is underway and we have the photos to prove it. Inside is a selection of photos from Papago Park.
OF prospect
Jermaine Mitchell
readies himself to take batting practice. He is currently playing for the Stockton spring team, but he is expected to start the season in Kane County.
SP prospect
Ben Jukich
throws a bullpen. The lefty pitched for Vancouver and Kane County in 2006.
Infielder
Christian Vitters
was the WAC Player of the Year in 2006. He missed most of the 2006 short-season with a broken thumb, but he is healthy.
Infielder
Frank Martinez
established career-highs in HRs (7) and RBIs (58) with Kane County in 2006.
First baseman
Greg Dowling
takes a big cut in a spring game for Stockton. He hit .268 for Vancouver in 2006.
OF
Matt Sulentic
enters the 2007 season as one of the A's top hitting prospects. He hit .354 in 38 games for Vancouver and .235 in 30 games for Kane County in 2006.
OF
Toddric Johnson
was the first A's 2006 draft choice to be promoted past Vancouver. He is expected to start the season in Kane County.
Infielder
Mike Affronti
looks to turn a double-play. He had four homers for Vancouver last season.
SP
Dan Meyer
throws a bullpen at Papago Park. Meyer is working back to full strength after having surgery last season. He will start the season in extended spring training.
SP
Inoel Deaza
throws a bullpen session. He made 16 starts for Vancouver last season.
SP
Kevin Olsen
throws at Papago Park. Olsen won six games in 2006. He has 28 appearances at the major league level in his career.
P Steve Bondurant is back on the mound after missing most of the 2006 season.
