A's Sign DiNardo, Non-Tender Calero, Garcia

With the non-tender deadline looming, the Oakland A's announced that they had re-signed left-hander Lenny DiNardo and have declined to tender contracts to Kiko Calero and Jose Garcia.

The Oakland A's continued to firm up their 2008 roster when they re-signed left-hander Lenny DiNardo and declined to offer contracts to Kiko Calero and Jose Garcia.

DiNardo was acquired on waivers by the A's at the start of spring training last season. He appeared in 35 games for the A's, making 20 starts. DiNardo had an 8-10 record and a 4.11 ERA for the season. As a starter, he had a 4.93 ERA and he had a 1.82 ERA in relief.

Calero was acquired before the 2005 season from the St. Louis Cardinals as part of the Mark Mulder trade. He was one of the A's most important relievers in 2005 and 2006. He suffered through injury problems in 2007, appearing in only 46 games. He had a 5.75 ERA and a 1-5 record. The slider specialist has a 3.55 career ERA in 241 major league appearances.

Garcia was designated for assignment by the A's last week. He had been acquired on waivers from the Florida Marlins earlier this off-season. He is recovering from Tommy John surgery.
