Stockton Photo Gallery: Ports Lose Tight One

Rodriguez threw six strong innings.

STOCKTON, CA -- On Wednesday, April 9, the Stockton Ports took on the Bakersfield Blaze in a 10:35 am start at Banner Island Ballpark. The Ports once again got a great pitching performance from Henry Rodriguez, but fell in a nail-biter to Zach Phillips and the Blaze by a score of 2-1.

Henry Rodriguez made his second start of the season. He was excellent once again, going six strong innings, allowing only two hits and two walks. Rodriguez struck-out eight.




Bakersfield tapped Zach Phillips for the start. The tall lefty was brilliant, as well, striking out 10 in five innings. He allowed one run on two hits and a walk.




Stockton catcher Jed Morris rounds third after his solo homerun in the second inning. It was Stockton's only run of the game and Morris' first homer of the year.




Stockton second baseman Mike Affronti makes the play.




Stockton DH Sean Doolittle runs down the line after hitting a single. He went 2-4 in the game.




Jermaine Mitchell (9) and Archie Gilbert came together on a fly out in the 7th. Mitchell made the catch and they avoided each other.




Stockton right-fielder Darryl Lawhorn hit a foul ball.




Gilbert flew out to Chad Tracy in left.




Jose Vallejo connects on a game-tying double in the 8th off of James Heuser, scoring Jacob Kasse.




Andrew Carignan pitching in the ninth inning with the score tied 1-1.




Morris makes the tag on KC Herren in the 9th inning after a single by Chris Gradoville. The ump ruled that Herren was safe on the game-winning run.




The Ports got two runners on in the ninth, but Chris Carter flew out to end the game.
