Ynoa, De Los Santos To Arrive Thursday

De Los Santos is on the comeback trail.

The Oakland A's have a lot of talent in Phoenix at their extended spring training camp and that talent pool is going to grow even larger on Thursday with the arrival of two of the A's top pitching prospects, Michael Ynoa and Fautino De Los Santos.

According to Oakland A's Director of Player Development Keith Lieppman, right-handers Michael Ynoa and Fautino De Los Santos will be arriving in Phoenix from the Dominican Republic on Thursday for the A's extended spring training camp.

Ynoa had originially been expected to arrive in Phoenix at the start of April but his arrival was delayed while he took care of some personal issues. The A's signed Ynoa last July to the largest signing bonus of any Latin American amateur free agent in baseball history and he was widely considered to be the top talent in last year's international free agent signing class.

De Los Santos, who was acquired in January 2008 as part of the Nick Swisher trade, began last season as one of the A's top pitching prospects. However, he injured his elbow in late April while pitching for the Stockton Ports and eventually had Tommy John surgery. He is almost a year removed from the surgery now and had been throwing bullpen sessions at the A's Dominican complex before his arrival. The team is hopeful that De Los Santos will be pitching in games sometime in June.

There were a few more moves made within the A's system on Tuesday. Left-hander Lance Sewell was sent to Stockton from extended spring training. He made his debut with the Ports last night. Sewell was in extended spring working on some mechanical adjustments. Scott Mitchinson was placed on the Ports' disabled list.

Catcher/outfielder Yusuf Carter has also joined the Ports from extended spring. He was acquired from the Chicago Cubs in the minor league portion of the Rule 5 draft this off-season. He replaces Dante Love on the Ports' roster. Love, according to Lieppman, has been placed on the inactive list. He is taking some time at home to decide whether or not to continue his baseball career.

Outfielder Chris Denorfia has landed on the Sacramento DL with a hamstring strain. The severity of the strain isn't currently known. Utilityman Corey Wimberly is on the Midland DL with a hand injury. He is expected to meet with a Phoenix-area hand specialist this week to determine what needs to be done, if anything, to correct the injury.
