A's Come To Terms With 14 Picks

The Oakland A's took 49 players in the 2009 MLB Draft and they have now signed 14 of those players, the team announced on Tuesday.

The Oakland A's announced on Tuesday the signing of 14 draft picks from the recently concluded MLB Draft. The 14 players signed are:

Murphy Smith (13)
Max Peterson (18)
Daniel Tenholder (19)
Ryan Quigley (22)
Kent Walton (23)
Daniel Straily (24)
Nathan Long (26)
Michael Gilmartin (27)
Connor Crumbliss (28)
Paul Smyth (35)
Jeremy Wells (36)
Blake Crosby (42)
A.J. Huttenlocker (44)
Joel Eusebio (46)

All 14 players are college draft picks. Three have local ties -- Peterson is from San Jose State, Wells is from Oakland-based Patten University and Crosby is from Sacramento State. Two have familial ties to the organization: Crosby, whose brother Bobby is an A's infielder, and Eusebio, whose father is a scout for the A's in the Dominican Republic.

Smith, a 13th round pick, is the highest draft choice to sign with Oakland thus far. Most of the players whose signings were announced on Tuesday will report to short-season Vancouver after a brief mini-camp in Phoenix.

Oakland has until August 17th to sign their picks.
