Acquired by the A's from the St. Louis Cardinals as part of a four-team deal involving Dan Haren, Daric Barton and Mark Mulder.
2004 Highlights:
* Posted a 2.78 ERA in 41 appearances for St. Louis.
* Compiled a 0.82 WHIP.
* Struck out 47 batters in 45 innings and walked only 10.
* Allowed only 27 hits.
* Posted a 4.82 ERA in 8 playoff appearances for the Cardinals. Struck out seven batters in seven innings against the Houston Astros in the NLCS.
