Selected by the A's in the first round (35th overall) of the June 2002 Draft. Selected as the sandwich pick, compensation for Jason Giambi. Signed on June 7, 2002.
2004 Highlights:
* Spent entire season in AA-Midland.
* Hit .256 with a .361 OBP.
* Had a career-high 49 RBI.
* Played in career-high 122 games.
* Playing as a member of the taxi squad in the Arizona Fall League for the Phoenix Desert Dogs.
Career Highlights:
* Hit a career high 10 HR in only 55 games in 2002 for Visalia (low A).
* Had a .444 OBP for Visalia that season.
* Missed much of the 2003 season with an injured thumb.
* Led the NCAA Division I in walks (69) as a senior for University of Alabama. Was All-SEC as a junior and a senior.
