Selected in the first round (33rd overall) by the A's in the June 2003 draft.

2004 Highlights:
* Had an excellent season, split between Modesto (A) and Midland (AA).
* Helped Modesto win the Cal League Championship.
* Hit .314 in 108 games for Modesto and .351 in 23 games in Midland.
* Hit a combined 13 homeruns and 92 RBI.
* Struggled a bit with his throwing, leading to speculation that he might be moved from short to second. Has good hands and range.

Career Highlights:
* Named to the Northwest League All-Star team in 2003.
* Won a College World Series with the University of Texas in 2002.
