Selected by the A's in the first round (40th overall) of the June 2004 Draft.
2004 Highlights:
* Moved through three levels of the A's organization (A-Kane County, AA-Midland, AAA-Sacramento).
* Was superb at all three levels.
* Had a combined 8 regular season saves for the three clubs and then was instrumental in nailing down numerous wins for Sacramento in the PCL post-season.
* Struck out a combined 30 batters, while walking only eight in 26 innings pitched.
* Had a combined 1.16 WHIP in his rookie professional season.
* Sent to the Arizona Fall League to compete with other elite prospects.
Career Highlights:
* All-time University of Texas saves leader.
* USA Baseball's 2003 Player of the Year.
* MVP of the USA/Japan Summer series in 2003.
* First-team All-American in 2003 and 2004.
