| 2006:
Gonzalez hit .304 with a .362 OBP over 156 games for the Padres as a rookie. In 570 at bats he had 173 hits, including 38 doubles and 24 homers - leading the team in both categories. He added 83 runss cored and 82 RBI's. Gonzalez drew 42 walks and struck out 113 times.

Gonzalez was acquired by the Padres on December 20, 2005 in a trade with Texas along with Chris Young and Terrmel Sledge for Adam Eaton, Akinori Otsuka and Billy Killian. |
