2006 Season:
The closer for Double-A Springfield, Worrell posted 27 saves and a 4.52 ERA in 57 appearances. He allowed 52 hits, struck out 75 and walked 20 in 61.2 innings.
Career Notes:
In 2004, Worrell appeared in 17 games for Rookie-level Johnson City, posting a 1.21 ERA and saving six games, striking out 35 and walking only seven in 22-1/3 innings. After a promotion to low Class A Peoria, he posted a 4.30 ERA in 12 appearances and saved another six games.
In 2005, Worrell was the minor league winner of the Rolaids Relief Man award, earning 103 points. Given to the top relief pitcher in Minor League Baseball, Rolaids awards three points for each save and two points for each victory in relief, while deducting two points for each loss. Mark spent the entire season closing games for high Class A Palm Beach. He posted a 2.25 ERA and 35 saves, allowing 35 hits, striking out 53 and walking 19 in 56 innings.
