How Acquired:
Selected in the minor league Rule 5 draft out of the Chicago Cubs organization.
Career Highlights:
Shipman was traded to the Cubs from Boston for LHP Jimmy Anderson in 2004. Anderson was later sent back to the Cubs, while Shipman posted four saves and a 3.18 ERA in 17 innings pitched. While a member of the Sarasota Red Sox (also Class-A), Shipman converted 10 straight save opportunities at one point in 2004. At Double-A West Tenn in 2005, he was 3-6 with a 3.17 ERA in 59 appearances while making the mid-season Southern League All-Star team. |
