| Biography: |
Herrera appeared in 82 games in 2007 after missing all of the 2006 season with an elbow injury. He began the 2007 season with High-A Stockton, where Herrera hit .274 with nine homers and a 785 OPS in 252 at-bats. He was promoted to Double-A Midland around the All-Star break and hit .254 with three homers and a 767 OPS in 71 at-bats with Midland.
Herrera was injured on July 24th and missed the rest of the season with hamstring problems. He was scheduled to play for Caracas of the Venezuelan Winter League, but he re-injured his hamstring just before the start of the VWL season and missed the entire season.
When healthy, Herrera is a five-tool talent who can play all three outfield positions and is a legitimate candidate to reach 20 homers and 20 stolen bases. He also has a very strong throwing arm. Herrera has been on the A's 40-man roster since before the 2006 season. |
