The Oakland A's have recently come to terms with two more draft picks - 16th round pick Josh Leyland and 30th round pick Royce Consigli, OaklandClubhouse.com has confirmed with A's Director of Scouting Eric Kubota.
Leyland is a graduate of San Dimas High School and was considered one of the top power bats in California high school in 2009. He was a catcher at San Dimas. Leyland turned 18 earlier this month. He is walking away from a scholarship to Washington State to play for Oakland.
Consigli is a left-handed hitting outfielder from Notre Dame High School in Welland, Ontario, Canada. Consigli also turned 18 this month. He is turning down a scholarship offer to play at the University of Pittsburgh to sign with Oakland.
The deadline for signing players is August 17th, so a flurry of draft-signing activity is expected over the next several weeks.
