Oakland A's Prospect Q&A: Michael Spina

Spina has improved his patience and defense.

In his brief professional career, Michael Spina has developed a reputation for being a run producer. After driving in 82 in his first full pro season with High-A Stockton last season, Spina is on pace to top that total in 2011 with Double-A Midland. Gabby Micek caught-up with the slugging first-baseman.

After being drafted in 2008 and spending his first full season with the Stockton Ports in High-A, Michael Spina has adjusted well to the jump to Double-A with the Midland Rockhounds this season. Spina played third base throughout college, and made the switch to first base last year in Stockton.
