Oakland A's MLN: Cougars Fall Just Short

Coming into their final regular season game, the Kane County Cougars had a simple objective: win, and they were headed to the playoffs; lose, and they would need a Beloit Snappers' loss to get in. Unfortunately, the Cougars got neither and, after a valiant attempt, Kane County will be home for the post-season in 2005.

After a disappointing first half of the 2005 season, the Kane County Cougars rebounded to play above .500 baseball in the second half. In fact, they played so well that they were near the top of their division for much of the second half.
