Mitchell Worked Out The Kinks

D.J. Mitchell is adding some more pitches

D.J. Mitchell went a combined 12-7 with a 2.63 ERA between low-A Charleston and high-A Tampa in his professional debut season last year, but he said as soon as last season's conclusion that he wanted to get even better. The sinker-ball specialist used Spring Training this year to do just that and work out the kinks so he could possibly have an even better 2010 season.

"I think I have a long ways to go," D.J. Mitchell reiterated in camp. "I'm happy about what I did last year but there's so much more that I could do better. I think I'm going to take that start by start and day by day, and see what happens." Extremely happy with his effective trio of pitches - two-seam fastball, curveball, and changeup - the right-hander spent the bulk of his time in camp... Recommended Stories
